While many of these seem like common sense, we are all guilty of letting our guard down once in a while. Review your financial statements and accounts regularly. Look for any unusual charges or withdrawals. If you check your accounts frequently, you're more likely to notice suspicious activity. UltraBranch® online account access is a great way to monitor all of your Alaska USA accounts. You can see the dates and details of transactions you've made and even view photos of checks you've written once they're cashed or deposited by the recipient. Sign up for eStatements. Find out what more than 100,000 Alaska USA members already know – eStatements are free, convenient, and best of all, secure. Reducing the number of confidential documents in your mailbox means there's one less place for criminals to look. To maintain security, eStatements are only accessible through UltraBranch – not through email. You can choose to receive email alerts notifying you that your statement is available. Alaska USA keeps your statements archived for seven years in case you ever need to refer to them. Keep your Personal Identification Number (PIN) separate from your debit or check card. If you keep your PIN in your purse or wallet, it's a lot easier for someone to use your card if it's lost or stolen. And never write your PIN on your card. For additional security, change your PIN regularly. You can do that at any Alaska USA ATM, or in UltraBranch. Be cautious when answering phone calls, emails, or letters. Alaska USA will never ask for your personal information via email or over the phone unless you initiate the call. If you are suspicious about a call, email, or letter claiming to be from Alaska USA, call the Member Service Center to verify its authenticity or report a scam. Use a shredder at home. Shred any documents or correspondence that contain personal or financial information before putting them in the trash. This includes financial statements, ATM receipts, expired credit cards, pay stubs, medical records, and even utility bills. If you don't have a shredder at home, it's certainly an investment worth making. Check your credit report. A regular review of your credit report can help you detect identity theft early. Federal legislation allows you to get a free copy of your credit report once every 12 months from each of the three consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. You can learn more about this service by visiting annualcreditreport.com or calling 1-877-322-8228. Stay informed. There are a number of resources available under the Financial resources section. You can also call the Member Service Center or visit your local branch if you have questions or concerns about your accounts. 4/6/2012Spring is in the air - and in the water, the trails, the open road...It's hard not to be excited about getting outside this time of year. It is such a pleasure to deal with people who give their 100% and I see that each time I enter your Big Bear Lake branch or need to speak to someone in your call center. When I do call, I not only get a real person, I get someone who cares and is very professional and efficient. I appreciate that your online system is easy, your fees are reasonable, and that I have had no issues. I live in Orange County and Big Bear Lake, California, so I need my banking and the people I deal with to be reliable. Thank you and keep up the good work, Alaska USA!
